eCommerce Web Design: How Good is WooCommerce?
WooCommerce is one of the most popular eCommerce web design platforms out there offering an impressive, clean user interface for listing products, accepting payments and handling shipping charges. The core module of WooCommerce is also free. It integrates seemlessly with WordPress, as you would expect since they are owned by the same company.
As a Syracuse web design company with over 20 years experience, we want to make sure that the products and services we offer our clients are the best on the market. And WooCommerce fits the bill nicely. It is highly customizable and offers a plethora of plugins to customize your eCommerce store for your specific products, needs, and way of doing business. It also lends itself to on-page and technical SEO Search Engine Optimization to help your products get noticed in search results.
WooCommerce is Free. So What’s the Catch?
If you are like me, I am suspicious when something is free. Free usually means there are ton’s of ads, or the product has been crippled or dumbed down in some way, or there are hidden charges lurking just under the surface. WooCommerce is honestly the exception to this rule. It really is completely free, it works extremely well for simple eCommerce needs, and there are no ads or nagging pop-ups. And if you have more complex eCommerce requirements, there are dozens if not hundreds of WooCommerce Plugins to enhance the functionality of WooCommerce and make it the stunning solution you need for your online business.
That being said, it’s worth noting that not all plugins are free – especially the ones offered by WooCommerce themselves – which is how they make their money, which in my opinion is well deserved indeed for such a solid, reliable eCommerce platform.
Full Integration with WordPress
If you own a WordPress website, WooCommerce website integration is a thing of beauty. You would expect that, of course, since WooCommerce is owned by Automattic, the company who brought the world WordPress. With the virtually never-ending supply of plugins available, the utter simplicity of the merchant and customer-facing interfaces, and how easy it is to use, it’s fairly easy to understand why we’re so enthusiastic about it for any small business online store.
